Newsletter, January 19th

A Peek At What We are Doing in Fifth Grade

We have had a crazy week. Since we were off on Monday to honor Martin Luther King Jr., we only had a four day week. On Thursday, we enjoyed a performance from the Fort Collins Symphony. Today, we had presenters from HP visit our classroom to talk about coding, and we shared our amazing edible cell projects.

A few students who chose longer biographies or were absent a few days this week, will need to take this weekend to finish reading their biographies. We’ll begin sorting our notes and planning our informational books on our Wax Museum figure starting Monday.

On Monday, we’ll also begin Winter Maps testing during Math and Reading classes. Students will take their Block 2 Maps test on Monday, January 22nd and their Block 1 Maps test on Tuesday, January 23rd. To give each students plenty of time, students will not have their other block on the days we Maps test.

You should have received a blank envelope in your child’s Friday Folder last week. As a special treat for your child, I would like you to send a personal Valentine message to your child for him or her to open with his or her other Valentines that day. To keep this a surprise, please return your note to school in this envelope on or before Friday, February 3rd, and I will put the note in your child’s Valentine box right before the party.

You can find all the newsletters for the year and other fun pictures including a video of Luke’s “Who Knew” at our classroom blog http://khalesclass.blogspot.com/.

Dates to Remember
Middle School Visit at Zach on Wednesday, February 14th at 1:30 followed by a class Valentine’s Day Party.
