Newsletter January 13th

A Peek At What We are Doing in Fifth Grade

Although it was hard for everyone to get back into the routine of school again, I think we are off to a great 2017.
We started reading and taking notes on our biographies for Wax Museum this week.  Our goal was to finish this week, but I have a few students that are taking the weekend to finish.
Your child also brought home a note this week about the edible cell project.  I believe students learn so much from the process of making the project than what can be seen in ultimate product.  Don’t worry if the cell looks yucky!
We’ll be taking Winter Maps testing next week. Math Maps will be on Tuesday, January 17th and Wednesday, January 18th .  Reading Maps will be on Monday, January 23rd and Tuesday, January 24th.
On Thursday, January 19th, we are going to the symphony in the morning.  Students are encouraged to dress appropriately - nicer than regular school clothes.
You can find all the newsletters for the year and other fun pictures including a video of Yousuf’s “Who Knew” at our classroom blog http://khalesclass.blogspot.com/.
